CUP’s rolling Garbage Education Display System will be traveling throughout the United States as part of ICI’s Expiremental Geography exhibit, curated by Nato Thompson. The exhibit looks into the collision between geographical study and the artistic experience of the earth, and will make stops in Indiana, Minnesota, New Mexico, and Maine. For more information, visit

Re-inventing Grand Army Plaza

What would it take to get something new built on Grand Army Plaza? CUP teaching artist Cassie Thornton has been investigating building implementation with high school students from College Now in conjunction with Design Trust for Public Spaces Grand Army Plaza Design Competition. The results of CUPs investigation will be displayed in Grand Army Plaza from September 14 through October 13. Opening Day: Saturday, September 13, 11 am to 4 pm.
Red Lines, Death Vows, Foreclosures, Risk Structures at the MIT Museum

An installation of models, photographs, videos, and drawings, Red Lines immerses visitors in a landscape of pulsing capital and liquidated buildings, exploring the relation between finance and architecture. During a year-long residence at MITs Center for Advanced Visual Studies, designer and CUP founder Damon Rich surveyed the darkening realm of real estate markets and produced an installation to share the findings.

Bodega Down Bronx Screening

Join us for an outdoor screening of Bodega Down Bronx at the Weeksville Heritage Center. Students from New Settlements Bronx Helpers and CUP teaching artist Jonathan Bogarín investigated bodegas in the Bronx. The group interviewed bodegueros, visited their suppliers, and met with government officials, health professionals, and alternative Bronx food establishments. Their documentary will screen at 8:30 pm, once the sun has set. Weeksville Heritage Center, 1698 Bergen Street (between Buffalo and Rochester Avenue), Brooklyn, NY. A/C to Utica Avenue, 3/4 to Crown Heights/Utica Avenue.
