March 14-16 CUP will be in residence at the MIT Center for Advanced Visual Studies. During this time, CUP will make a public presentation of our work, host a mini-exhibition at the Center, and visit with a range of MIT faculty about possible collaborations related to our City without a Ghetto and Risk Management projects. Civic Exchange: Lecture & Exhibition

CUP worked on one of four finalist teams in the competition Civic Exchange: Lower Manhattan Looks Beyond The Kiosk, sponsored by Van Alen Institute, the Architectural League of New York, and the Battery Park City Authority. The competition asked entrants to design a new kind of information dispenser for lower Manhattan. Now you can see our work and the work of the three other shortlisted teams at a lecture and exhibition.

CUP in the news

In case you missed it, CUP was recently featured in articles in the New York Times (http://www.camwood.org/the_nyt_critics_notebook.html), where art critic Holland Cotter called our project Jamaica Big Up “guardedly utopian,” and Metropolis magazine, where Stephen Zacks described our work as “balanc[ing] an interest in the aesthetic qualities of urban experience with a more pragmatic and rigorous approach that aspires to produce verifiable data with public policy implications and demonstrable consequences.”
